Fangirl Quest

Fangirl Quest is an ongoing project that combines our love of TV and movies, photography, travel and much more.

What started as an epic road trip to filming locations all over the UK eventually led to a series of photos we like to call SCENEFRAMING. Though this is still the heart and soul of our Quest, it has grown into something much bigger...

We attend events and premieres, visit attractions, meet other fans, organise giveaways and competitions and go on road trips as often as we can. And then we blog about it all.

See you on the road!

New website and other things!

Ok, yay! Now that we finally have our official website up and running, we can be a little bit more relaxed here on Tumblr. So let’s TALK! Any questions? Any comments? Any magnificent photos of Benedict or Hiddles?

Our ask is open for it all and we’ll publish the best ones :)

PS: We’ve also got Twitter & Facebook. And Instagram. And all those other things. Phew, that’s a lot of things.

Andrew Scott at the Helsinki International Film Festival - Love & Anarchy

Helsinki, Finland, September 20th 2014

Finland isn’t big on fandom events. They don’t film Doctor Who here and you can’t catch a glimpse of Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hiddleston at a red carpet premiere. So when I found out that Andrew Scott was coming here for the Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy to promote Ken Loach’s new movie Jimmy’s Hall the reaction scale went from disbelief to sheer joy. There may have been some screaming at some point.

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness
Location: Creative Artists Agency building (on Google Map | Wikipedia)

Wow, this scene! These characters! These actors! This location. To snap these frames we drove over to the Creative Artists Agency building in Century City, Los Angeles. Although most of what you see during this scene in the movie is cgi, it still very much feels like you’re standing on a scifi movie set once you enter the square between these buildings.

Setlock | a year later
North Gower St. London, UK Aug 21st 2013

Yeah, it was That Day, when hundreds of fans flocked to the fake 221B Baker Street on a hot August day in London just to catch a glimpse of these two. It was literally like taking part in some weird combination of theatre, television and an unplanned, yet well organized Sherlock fan event.

We met some incredible fans, made new friends, fought dehydration and hunger (because who would be nuts enough to lose their spot?!) and loved every minute of it. The Sherlock cast and crew had a great attitude towards us silly fanpeople, making sure we were all safe and entertaining us between takes.

Those who were there can now watch the episode they filmed that day, nudge their friend on the shoulder and say “Hear that silence? That’s us!”

Wow. Happy memories forever.

You can see more of Tiia’s photos from that day in her own blog as well as in our Setlock tag in our Fangirl Quest blog.

❤ Our Sherlock sceneframing photos in no particular order
Original posts: 1 / 2 / 3

Director: Matthew Warchus
Cast: Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott, George MacKay, Paddy Considine, Faye Marsay, Imelda Staunton, Ben Schnetzer, Dominic West
Release date: 12 September 2014 (UK)

Tonight, I went on a blind date with a movie.

In other words I took a risk by not watching the trailer or reading anything about it beforehand. I did know about the stunning cast, so I figured I’d probably enjoy it, no matter what it’s about.

And boy, did I. Pride is an absolutely gorgeous story about the unlikely alliance of the LGBT community and a small village of Welsh miners. It’s based on a true story that took place in the UK in 1984-85 when the coal miners went on strike.
