Fangirl Quest

Fangirl Quest is an ongoing project that combines our love of TV and movies, photography, travel and much more.

What started as an epic road trip to filming locations all over the UK eventually led to a series of photos we like to call SCENEFRAMING. Though this is still the heart and soul of our Quest, it has grown into something much bigger...

We attend events and premieres, visit attractions, meet other fans, organise giveaways and competitions and go on road trips as often as we can. And then we blog about it all.

See you on the road!

Hurray! Da Vinci’s Demons is now on Tumblr!

In celebration and to wish them a warm welcome, here’s a few sceneframes we’ve done at their filming locations in Margam Park and Castell Coch, both in beautiful Wales.

Check out our location photos and additional info in the original posts here, here and here.

Now, go and follow them!

The Doctor lands tonight!
Inspired by Mark Gatiss’ tweet today we join the happy celebration of CapalDay! We’ve seen the man on set, we’ve met him in person and we were lucky enough to see his first episode as the Doctor in the world premiere in Cardiff. And we promise, you’re in for a treat!
We hope you’ll love him just as much as we do. Enjoy your CapalDay & Peter’s first episode, wherever you are!

Setlock | a year later
North Gower St. London, UK Aug 21st 2013

Yeah, it was That Day, when hundreds of fans flocked to the fake 221B Baker Street on a hot August day in London just to catch a glimpse of these two. It was literally like taking part in some weird combination of theatre, television and an unplanned, yet well organized Sherlock fan event.

We met some incredible fans, made new friends, fought dehydration and hunger (because who would be nuts enough to lose their spot?!) and loved every minute of it. The Sherlock cast and crew had a great attitude towards us silly fanpeople, making sure we were all safe and entertaining us between takes.

Those who were there can now watch the episode they filmed that day, nudge their friend on the shoulder and say “Hear that silence? That’s us!”

Wow. Happy memories forever.

You can see more of Tiia’s photos from that day in her own blog as well as in our Setlock tag in our Fangirl Quest blog.

Benedict Cumberbatch joined by new amazing castmates for The Hollow Crown: The Wars Of The Roses
Judi Dench will play Cecily, Duchess of York, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Richard III. Sophie Okonedo has been cast as Queen Margaret across all three films. Hugh Bonneville will play Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester. Confirmed are also Sally Hawkins, Keeley Hawes and Tom Sturridge.
"To have the chance to work with some of Britain’s most talented actors is a dream come true. We couldn’t be more delighted to have them on board," — Pippa Harris, executive producer for Neal Street Productions.
Wow, oh wow, so this is going to be amazing, huh? We can not WAIT for the filming to start and all sorts of material popping up. Teaser, trailers, photos… and then the thing itself. Much excitement!

On the Birthday of our Overlord, the bringer of GISHWHES and Provider of Giggles and Happy Chaos, let us all be nice to other people and especially ourselves. Let us all do random acts of kindness towards any strangers we happen to stumble upon and use our creativity to make the day a special one for ourselves.
Happy Birthday dear sir! We wish you not one, but two birthday cakes.

Like losing a childhood friend or that favourite uncle who only brought joy. The world lost a bright light. A good friend. An inspiration. A kind person.

O Captain, My Captain. If you could only see what’s being said about you right now everywhere in the world. The amount of utter love and grief.
We hope you’re watching from a better place with a smile on your face. Thank you and good night. We’ll miss you forever.

hi there! I was wondering: how do you guys get the funds for being on the road all the time? thanks. :) by the way, I love your photography - you both are very talented!

Hello! For the big trip to Canada & US we ran a succesful crowdfunding campaign. All the other trips we’ve paid for ourselves. We joke we had to skip i.e. buying winter coats and shoes to get to do it all, but actually.. it’s not a joke. It’s just choices we made. We chose our passion over our needs! :)

GISHWHES 2014 | Team Vampirates | part 3

Some more photos we managed to do for our team this week. Such fun. Much mess.

Saturday, August 9, 2014

So, William Shatner took part in GISHWHES with his own team and took time today to thank Misha for the idea and all the fun and we couldn’t agree more!

It’s sort of awesome we got to compete against him, although probably quite impossible to kick his butt. However, we had the most awesome time with the tiny Kirk when we visited the summit of Snowdon mountain, singing this marvellous song all the way there and back.

(And yes, he calls Misha Cupcake.)

That rubber glove picture in the GISHWHES 2014 part 1 -post is STUNNING! Just wow. (+ A little voice inside my head is telling me to print it out and hang to the bathroom wall.)

WOW! Thanks for your kind words! Go ahead and print it if the resolution is enough. Johanna will be proud (she’s the one in the picture), ha!

GISHWHES 2014 | Team Vampirates | part 2: Snowdon
ITEM: Table Mountain, South Africa; Mount Snowdon Wales; Mount Sinai, Egypt; Mt. Fuji, Japan; and Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania are epic peaks. Climb one of them. You must submit two images side by side, one of you in front of the mountain, and the second, with you at the summit, wearing the same clothes, holding up a sign that says: “Everything is easy when you GISHWHES!” 147 POINTS
This was such a fun item. We had to do a 5 hour drive there and then back, but it was so worth it. Wales is a beautiful country and everyone should know it!
(Although nothing is more beautiful than this competition.)

We’re probably gonna rant about the beauty of this competition properly later. Here’s some photos for you to look at in the meanwhile! :)

Guardians of the GalaxyDirector: James GunnRelease date: 31 July 2014 (UK)
Rarely, when the expectations are very high, you’ll get what you expect and paid for. This time it all turned out swell and fine.
(The following is 100% plot spoiler free, but it does mention some feels & character details.)
Guardians of the Galaxy is a bubbly, happy film. Our favourite thing about it is how smoothly it flows between solemnity and absolute giggles. Just when you think “awjeez here comes the cheesy superhero movie scene,” it takes the complete opposite direction within seconds and makes you regret you ever doubted.

Chris Pratt is an extremely likable man as he is, but the volume of his likability skyrockets during the genius opening and first scene of the movie: first, our heart breaks for tiny Peter Quill. Next, we just wanna be like him: the dorky cool guy who jams his way through sticky situations and makes us laugh while doing it.
And then there’s Zoe Saldana. It took me a while to realise what a great character Gamora is. She grew up among evil, yet managed to break out to fight for good and kicks everyone’s butt physically. This pleases me. Zoe pleases me.
I won’t even go into detail about what makes Rocket and Groot so amazing. You’ll see. You’ll see and you’ll understand. They’re beautiful characters. I could just watch Groot move for all eternity and never get bored, and that’s just the visual side of him.
Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer is hilarious. Lee Pace's natural, majestic charisma makes Ronan the Accuser a very believable, yet oddly, slightly vulnerable baddie, whereas Doctor Who's Karen Gillan as Nebula is the total (amazing) opposite of goofycute Amy Pond.
But as huge fans of The Walking Dead we got massive kicks out of Michael Rooker's Yondu. It was like Merle Dixon got thrown across space and time to taunt our hero with his southern accent and snarky smirks. So, so good.
However, even after the utter joy that this cast delivers with their bonkers performances, I found myself hoping for more screen time for Benicio Del Toro and Djimon Hounsou.
But I guess expanding this movie into three hours was out of the question. Not that we would’ve minded.

Croatoan Day

In Supernatural season 5, episode 4 (“The End”, 2009) Dean finds himself in the future. From Supernatural Wikia: “He looks back to see the No Entry warning sign on the fence designating Kansas City as a Croatoan Virus Hot Zone. It’s dated August 1st, 2014.

The fandom’s been celebrating Croatoan Day internationally (and why shouldn’t they? It’s here now and soon gone!) and we’ve seen a lot of photos and tweets about it all day, even Facebook events.

We decided to celebrate with these photos that we took at an awesome location in Cardiff Bay, Wales. Hope you like how they turned out! :)

The other set of three photos come from our awesome Gishwhes team mate Panicky Kitty. (You can follow her on Twitter & find more of her photos on Cospix!)

So, HAPPY CROATOAN DAY EVERYONE!

And remember the wise words of Chuck when the Apocalypse strikes:
