Fangirl Quest

Fangirl Quest is an ongoing project that combines our love of TV and movies, photography, travel and much more.

What started as an epic road trip to filming locations all over the UK eventually led to a series of photos we like to call SCENEFRAMING. Though this is still the heart and soul of our Quest, it has grown into something much bigger...

We attend events and premieres, visit attractions, meet other fans, organise giveaways and competitions and go on road trips as often as we can. And then we blog about it all.

See you on the road!

Here’s a collection of The Walking Dead related posts and photos for those who are not in San Diego and/or are too busy to get lost in the magical world of social media and YouTube to see all these things.

First of all, let’s get the important things out of the way. THE TRAILER. The trailer for season 5 was released during the panel and it is mind-blowingly good. Watch it here if you haven’t yet because man.. is it October yet?

Next, onto some instagrams and other fun things:

Like so many others, Norman Reedus was excited to attend:

"Last November the Doctor didn’t just conquer the world on television, he did it in the cinemas too. And like the show-off he is, he can’t resist another go. Capaldi is coming to get you!” says Steven Moffat.

Show: Supernatural (The End, 5x04)
Location: Riverview Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada (Google Map)

Riverview Hospital is an abandoned mental health facility and a filming location for dozens of TV productions. Since the folks of Supernatural seem to use it for filming frequently, we got extremely curious and simply had to plan a visit. In the end, we ended up going back three times during our week’s stay in Vancouver.

The whole hospital area is a beautiful, amazing hillside park with old trees, roads and paths, but the run-down hospital buildings with their endless dark, empty windows are something else. More than once we got spooked by a reflection or an old curtain stirring in the wind in a broken window.

We’ll be posting more photos and stories from Riverview soon, but until then, we hope you enjoy these dear shots from one of our favourite Supernatural episodes ever!

Benedict Cumberbatch as Dream
I am the biggest fan of practically everything Neil Gaiman ever does, yet I’ve never read any parts of The Sandman. Embarrassing, I know. I used to be into comics and graphic novels as a teenager looong time ago and read every single thing I could get my hands on in the local library. Even the most artistic French ones. Why this one always escaped me, I don’t know, but I’m making up for it now.
And lo and behold - halfway through Preludes & Nocturnes I’m already creating fan art. It’s my first time ever drawing in this style, but I enjoyed the research and learning process. Hope you like!
PS: Don’t shoot me for making Dream look a bit like Benedict. I just keep seeing him somewhere in there… :)

102 photos

Hey, come and see this: almost all of our sceneframing photos are neatly packed as one set on our Facebook page for your convenience! I was just looking at this today and suddenly it hit me: we’ve done all this and so much more in less than a year.

Who cares if I can’t afford nonsense like shoes or food? THIS is the best thing I’ve ever done. Pretty much Satu agrees.

Wish I could thank each and every one of our followers and supporters with a gentle kiss on the cheek. Since I can’t, please be aware I’m vividly imagining the moment between us right now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FORREST GUMP!

One of the greatest movies of all times is celebrating its 20th birthday right about now, so it’s quite amazing that we got to stand on some of the locations used in the movie exactly two decades later.

The first two photos were taken near Monument Valley, Utah on Route 163. There’s even a little sign saying “Forrest Gump ended his crosscountry run at this spot 1980.”

The other two photos were taken at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness
Location: Creative Artists Agency building (on Google Map | Wikipedia)

Wow, this scene! These characters! These actors! This location. To snap these frames we drove over to the Creative Artists Agency building in Century City, Los Angeles. Although most of what you see during this scene in the movie is cgi, it still very much feels like you’re standing on a scifi movie set once you enter the square between these buildings.
