Fangirl Quest

Fangirl Quest is an ongoing project that combines our love of TV and movies, photography, travel and much more.

What started as an epic road trip to filming locations all over the UK eventually led to a series of photos we like to call SCENEFRAMING. Though this is still the heart and soul of our Quest, it has grown into something much bigger...

We attend events and premieres, visit attractions, meet other fans, organise giveaways and competitions and go on road trips as often as we can. And then we blog about it all.

See you on the road!

We brought The Beatles back to Abbey Road!
Well, yeah. Obviously we didn’t really bring anyone back (no matter how much we’d love to hop into a TARDIS and bring these young fellas back with us to pose for some photos), but we did our best by sceneframing them at the legendary location.

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness
Location: Creative Artists Agency building (on Google Map | Wikipedia)

Wow, this scene! These characters! These actors! This location. To snap these frames we drove over to the Creative Artists Agency building in Century City, Los Angeles. Although most of what you see during this scene in the movie is cgi, it still very much feels like you’re standing on a scifi movie set once you enter the square between these buildings.

Show: Supernatural (The End, 5x04)
Location: Riverview Hospital, Vancouver, BC, Canada (Google Map)

Riverview Hospital is an abandoned mental health facility and a filming location for dozens of TV productions. Since the folks of Supernatural seem to use it for filming frequently, we got extremely curious and simply had to plan a visit. In the end, we ended up going back three times during our week’s stay in Vancouver.

The whole hospital area is a beautiful, amazing hillside park with old trees, roads and paths, but the run-down hospital buildings with their endless dark, empty windows are something else. More than once we got spooked by a reflection or an old curtain stirring in the wind in a broken window.

We’ll be posting more photos and stories from Riverview soon, but until then, we hope you enjoy these dear shots from one of our favourite Supernatural episodes ever!

Sceneframing Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut (2/2)
Lake Powell, UT, USA | May 2014

We drove up to the lake, managed to get our car got stuck in the sand and had to stay until late to wait for the tow truck… but we went back the next day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FORREST GUMP!

One of the greatest movies of all times is celebrating its 20th birthday right about now, so it’s quite amazing that we got to stand on some of the locations used in the movie exactly two decades later.

The first two photos were taken near Monument Valley, Utah on Route 163. There’s even a little sign saying “Forrest Gump ended his crosscountry run at this spot 1980.”

The other two photos were taken at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Show: Sleepy Hollow
Location: Wilmington, NC, US (on Google Map)

If you’re not watching this show yet, your life decisions are not very good. Seriously. Get to it, now. You’ll only have one (too short) season to watch and you’re up to date. They’re filming the second season as we speak and it’s gonna have more episodes in it, so hurry up and join the fandom before it airs!

We spent four nights in the beautiful city of Wilmington NC visiting the locations they’ve used, and even got to hang out on their filming set in the pouring rain for several hours. We spoke to a few friendly crew members, too. Such lovely people! We wish nothing but the best to all of them & hope they’ll say hi if they happen to read this.

Other shows filmed in the Wilmington area: One Tree Hill, Dawson’s Creek, Under The Dome etc. Read more on WilmingtonFilm.com. On weekends you can visit the EUE/Screen Gem Studios and see what’s going on behind the scenes. A lovely tour, that!

Show: The Walking Dead
Location: Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA, US (on Google Map)

We’re in Atlanta and we’re falling apart because OH HELLO HAPPINESS. All these The Walking Dead locations and scenes we’re framing.. so good! We don’t want to leave this place at all!

So, here’s a little teaser of our upcoming frames. There’s some location snaps on our Instagram, too!

(We even went to see them film, but that’s a whole different story that we’ll be posting soon with stories and photos. The hilight of it must’ve been meeting Steven Yeun, though..)

Show: Breaking BadLocation: To’hajiilee, New Mexico, US (on Google Map)
We found it! We found Walt’s & Jesse’s cook site in the desert. It’s a bit of a drive from downtown Albuquerque, but not as far and hard to find as one would think. There are some very distinct rock formations you can use as reference.
They used this location for several important scenes and we framed plenty of them, but we thought this one very important image would be a good teaser for you guys! So, here you have it. Walt’s pants floating through the air for your enjoyment.
Special thanks to Marc Valdez for the informative blog posts!
